Much of our lives are spent doing as much as we can. We validate the effort we put into doing things. Humanity has only been focused on this aspect of life, achievement for the masses, for a little over a hundred years. In the 1700s/1800s, it was challenging - if not impossible - to achieve much. During these times, you were born into your social status or trade for your livelihood. Then came the industrial revolution, which transformed our economy and way of existing on the planet. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, humanity learned new tools to maximize productivity.
Neither of these scenarios are about personal growth. The focus was survival and productivity. It wasn’t until the sixties, with its new age, Freudian, pop art, protests, that we started to look inward. To notice how we feel. To express ourselves. To simply enjoy an experience. This shift into the personal “I“ is still relatively new.
Even now, when we go to talk to our friends, the first thing we ask is, “How are you doing?“. However, there is so much more to humanity than our accomplishments.
When you aren't seeing your growth, or others aren’t, you might feel lost, confused, depressed. I remember feeling off my path when I lived and worked on a small resort in the middle of the desert - in Death Valley, California. Looking back, I moved there to rethink my next steps in life. I was actually exactly where I needed to be. It was all a part of my journey and growth.
With growth lacking acknowledgement, many people may walk around feeling empty inside. They are simply going through the motions and attempting to achieve something. So, people are so surprised when someone really sees them, gets them, hears them, and understands their arc of growth in their life. We don't expect it. It is not typical. It’s magical.
To look at your life from the perspective of growth is still a relatively new expression of humanity. Everyone's journey of growth is far from perfect. It is messy, visceral, challenging, filled with questions - but it is still growth. Growth - the thing you came into this life to experience.
I’ve spent much of my life focused on the study of growth as a psychic. Growth is often overlooked or not validated. Yet, there is something special that happens when we see it. People bloom, take steps, find their answers, connect the dots of their life, feel seen, are validated, and see their life in a fresh new light. See your life through the lens of growth and watch how it changes you.
